To all those I owe money, you know the drill…

Can you believe this?! 2017 already?! I am having a blast just thinking about it already, not because I have any major stuff planned, oh wait, I’m moving out… but other than that, I’m just chilling. I like new stuff so why not like 2017 too.

Writing a post about new years and relating it to home decor is quite the task I am not in the mood for so let’s make this one an exceptional post ( aka lazy and an extremely short post)

I had quite a committing year in 2016, managed to keep the blog running and heck yeah I am beyond proud of myself. I also got to grow my hair a couple of inches longer which is indeed the world’s biggest deal (positive vibes) and finally I got to eat more fruit, hoping for this success and more in the coming year.

I am beyond grateful for the lovely following, I felt responsible, it was like having a dog, you guys were my …dogs?!… in the most respectful way of course hahahaha (do not take offense I love most dogs). It is indeed a blessing watching myself grow through this, tasking myself with ideas and sharing them with people who are always beyond supportive and encouraging.

Knowing I have more than one time mentioned moving out, I kinda have to now solely because I have you guys waiting for that to happen now (no pressure I’m sure lol)

As we begin the new year I wish you all the opportunity to wake up and vigilantly chase your dreams, may your hearts burn with the desire to do and succeed.

We are all designers in our own professions, skills and hobbies and with that said…

Happy New Year my fellow designers,

What kind of pet just lays around the house? A Car-Pet! …

For the love of pun hahaha, please don’t unsubscribe some people do actually find me funny and pleasant 🙂

In the spirit of just a few more months to my big move, I came across rugs and carpets. I had an awesome time checking out some really well priced rugs at stores like Antarc and TACC and I thought I should share my idea of what I would eventually settle for.

I feel like a rug makes a home, whether on tiles or laminated floors they just bring out the best out of your home especially when well picked to your style and decor preference. If you have been a frequent veebydesign reader you do know I have a legit obsession with a gray ranged home theme with splashes of color and patterns here and there. I would have loved if this was matched with a white rug, but I am realistic so let’s simply look into other cozy, tiny niece friendly colors.

Grey Rug

A grey rug would fit so well on both light and dark floors and a plus is that it doesn’t show dirt too quickly ( wash your rugs though, don’t be nasty) and still looks stylish.

This also got my undivided attention….faux fur rugs. I mean whoever is looking for a vogue living space should definitely think about this beauty. This works effortlessly in the bedroom area as a bedside rug. Its fancy and will definitely be a wonderful feel on your feet first thing in the morning.

So heard you are looking for some living room class…how about a faux fur rug….yes..they don’t have to be restricted to the bedroom only. The right kind of this rug would fit right into you space and make a glorious decor statement. It is comfortable, child friendly and if you ave a little peach (my friend’s dog is called peaches) the fur won’t be so distinct as compared to other rugs.

If you have solid colors through and through your home the a patterned rug would be a way to break the monotony.

A plain carpet would also do just fine too. In this situation i’d recommend a more bold color of it is just plain but the color should compliment the rest of the decor in the space.

Well, that is all the tips I have for you today. I’m now definitely torn between the bold plain and the faux fur but it’s okay i’ll probably go with what’s cheaper hahaha.

Stay tuned for a new post on faux fur decor inlcuding DIYs and all the good stuff.

Brass & Gold

The gateway to luxurious interiors…

I know it’s been a while but I needed some time to re-collect and re-organize my thoughts and just be brand new about a whole lot, with that said not much has changed I’m just being dramatic.Honestly, I just got super lazy for the past few weeks and my ideas genuinely sucked so I had myself a vacation. I relaxed and enjoyed the sunshine and now the rains, I went for some parties here and there in some nice houses, I postponed washing my clothes for this one week just to live on the edge (I hated the edge!) and finally I had a cup of noodles every once in a while ( wassup Indomie)..best affordable vacation ever!

Anyway enough chitty chatter, I know why we are all here….. Trump du Donald…oh no? That’s not it? I’m too late you say? He’s president you say?…oh okay wrong forum I guess! We are here for brass and gold interior decor, let’s keep it pushing while we still have internet in Africa shall we?

I have always loved a fancy looking bathroom with some nice marble or tiles matched with some neat curtains or all contained in a complementary glass cubicle but I always get let down a bit by the storage accessories placed in these luxurious bathrooms. Truth be told I am not a fan of plastic soap dishes they add no value to a style you’d hope to have in your salle de bains. So, when I saw this amazing brass bathroom storage and organizing accessories I knew I had to share. A fancy feel definitely floats around the space once you add these gorgeous babies to the mix.

Recently, I came across this awesome Instagram Page, I’ll remember the name eventually and they had  a DIY bar. I loved the idea so much and it got me thinking how perfect a brass bar would look like. You could add a bottle of your choice place some wine or whiskey glasses and maybe a bucket of ice. This would be perfect if you holding a small get together at your place where you guests would be comfortable enough to pour themselves something without having to invade your kitchen area.

Why don’t you also throw in a bold pillow to the decor. This gold and marble throw pillow has such an abstract look to it, against a wide range of suitable solid couch colors this will be the cherry on top to avoid having a very plain looking sofa.

Gold accessories are by far my favorite when it comes to outfits because they shift anything from plain Jane to a 10. So, an opportunity to dress my living space with some gold accents is something that definitely had my decor blood pumping.

Hope you enjoyed the post as much as I did. Promise to be around a tad bit more. Stay positive, stay creative and stay golden.

Much Love!!

Fringe Benefits

As inspired by the awesome winniethefashionista

She is among the girls killing it right now with her bomb fashion sense that even fashion bomb daily recently gave her the thumbs up. I am of course a lover of fashion in case you are wondering though I have my off the mark days (approximately most days of the year). I also do follow trends like a kid after candy and besides me being her friend I do more than occasionally end up on her site for some glorious style tips.

So on my usual stalking errands on her lovely site I did come across many wonderful pictures of her in a to-die-for fringe dress designed by Vivo and let’s just start with one I want that dress till to date and two I got insanely inspired to do a post on it. But calm down…. I am not switching into fashion blogging because I would possibly generally only talk about flats plus a red lip and also because Interior Decor is kinda my thing and better the devil I know right?

I love pushing my creativity as far as I can when it comes to various ideas and the opportunity to be inspired always gets my fingers typing at 1000 words per second to get it out and share with anyone willing to read 🙂 So let’s start getting into the fringe benefits of interior decor.

There are so many ways to add a fringe style to your home decor without looking like you have a bunch of stuff hanging around all over your house. It could end up looking messy and messy only looks good on a Saturday morning hair bun. So I shall gladly state the mantra I keep spitting out every single post, simplicity is always the best option, a little bit of something could make a space look absolutely magical and who in their right minds doesn’t love a bit of magic (except the Dudleys… shameless Harry Potter reference)

There is a touch of glamour that comes with these cuties that has me obsessing over the shower curtain. We all know I love a gold detail and the gold details here made me hear all the bathroom angels sing.

It’s quite a unique style in the best of way and it blends so well it made me wonder how I don’t have this in my bathroom already because all shower curtains should look just like this if not better.

When I think of fringe, I envision Bohemian Elegance or Persian Perfection. Styles that are so unique and beautiful that if done right your house just might feel like another country. Of course fringe chairs used to be all the rage back in the day but I genuinely believe this can be brought back with a bit of a modern twist to it. For instance, there would be less print on the furniture just a solid color with the fringe to spice things up a bit, this is up for debate… I can hear some of you yell noooooooo while reading this haha don’t worry it brings back some old day memories for me too but take a look at this though..

Beautiful Fringed Accent Chair

There is a touch of Gatsby that comes with this particular fringed chair. The fringes don’t have to be thick, they can be thin, light and very elegant.

The accent chair is still very modern if you ask me, so there is no style lost here.

The lovely wall art played on my heart strings as well. It fit perfectly with the whole theme of the space magnificently bringing the look together.

Black fringed chair

If you are into the Victorian feel and look you can have a black fringed accent chair and who said the fringe only goes at the bottom? (loudly whispers NO ONE)  Black set on lighter surfaces always plays such a wonderful part of bringing some sense of character to a space. So don’t be shy and go ahead and try..( this is my cheesiest line yet lol )

And finally, the fringed chandelier!! I loved this so much. Especially for a bedroom. It has a luxurious look to it, well.. not compared to a diamond chandelier but yeah…. it’s definitely cheaper and nobody can DIY a diamond chandelier so I rest my case.

The Classy Minimalist

It doesn’t take much, it just take the right kind of enough…

I promised myself that I’d write a tad bit more, so here I am again, excited that I followed that through, I feel like this is definitely some growth on my part.

So during my usual internet runs, I came across something I absolutely fell in love with. Let’s consider that this isn’t rare for me, I come across cute dogs all over the internet, all the time.. so I know what online love feels like. I’m pretty sure you just thinking, ” well get on with it Vee” so here goes, I choose to call this the Classy Minimalist.

I am the brand ambassador of simple living nowadays so loud colors and decor haven’t really been in my radar, With that regard, I have gotten opportunity to explore what I would consider a more simplified home decor style but this in no way makes it seem boring or behind the current times.

Pink Chair against dark wall

Simplicity is about subtracting the obvious and adding the meaningful

A lightly colored chair, against a dark wall matched with white accessories is different, but it definitely works. Quite frankly, I would have genuinely preferred the legs of the chair to be a rose gold blending with the light shade of lovely pink , breaking the monotony from the wall and adding a touch of sophistication to the whole look without a lot of effort.

Something else that made my classy minimalist list was the modern brushed brass chandeliers. They give the space such an upgrade. I have been looking for one of these for the longest time and please if you do know where I can find them, kindly comment below.

With the brushed brass chandelier, you do not need to tone down on anything in your space because they simply compliment what you have going on. They are like a perfect gold chain, goes well with anything from dress to jeans.

Sexy Abstract Table

You really do not have to have a boring coffee table anymore. This abstract table will set your living area on fire with its tamed class and subtle yet very noticeable impact on your whole home decor.

It gives the impression of so much style and I am more than obsessed with the fact that the legs are gold and not the plain black or wooden. It takes away from the usual glass coffee tables.

Feel free to get this piece with me because I am right on that line to get me one, wherever that will be.

That Exciting First Move

Tips for your very first home…

Hey hey everybody I have been a bit preoccupied with work so my posts have seriously suffered but I’m here now , and I already regret not being here sooner. I had so many thoughts I wanted to share but I kept procrastinating, for some reason.

Picking a place to move into is definitely something that requires a lot of time, decision making (which I lack immensely ) and some serious commitment.

Tip one: Start zoning into a particular house one month to your move. If you start admiring one house 7 months to your move, you won’t really get it, because you aren’t really prepared to do the necessary like for example immediately managing  2 months deposit payments most importantly. And real talk, that house won’t wait for you for 7 months  and if it does there’s something wrong with that house so don’t spend any of your coin on it.

Tip Two: Always pick your chair design after you have a house on the lock down. You wouldn’t want to get an L-shaped that would literally take all the space in your house. That would be so annoying jumping over a chair every time you need to get to the other side. So you can have a number of particular designs in mind while picking a house so that at the end of the day you always have the advantage when trying to decide what you want.

Tip Three: Do not shy away from buying yourself some fun stuff while you plan to move out. Save up for a screen,  maybe a fridge (doesn’t have to be the biggest) a carpet ( we don’t use the massive one’s anymore, thank God, so I’m sure the modern sized ones should be good enough) and also how about you set aside some savings to treat yourself to Zuku (wi-fi is life, how else will you read my blog???)

And finally not to bore you guys with all these tips, Tip Four: Be comfortable with whatever you are doing. Don’t stretch yourself too thin and take your time. Moving out should be fun and anything else that makes it negative will down the whole experience. It’s a great step, ask for advise, take some and leave some and have yourself the pleasure of finally getting to enjoy and test your independence.

Planning to move out: BEDS

Getting a good, fancy looking, inexpensive (preferably free) and durable bed has not been an easy task, I don’t know why I thought it would be in the first place and it is definitely safe to say I thought about sleeping in one of my old sleeping bags and just hipster my way through life, but I went through online therapy (involves me googling stuff while chewing down some popcorn or amigos) and I came across some amazing stuff that I am more than excited to share. So let’s share a dream on these extremely dreamy headboards!

Dreamy Light Grey HeadBoard

I will be the first to say that I am currently dealing with the world’s ugliest headboard, don’t get me wrong I still sleep like a baby, just not the North West kind of baby sleep, you know? which any normal 24 year old adult would wish for. So being broke and fairly creative most of the time, I have ended up looking for some cheaper options to deal with this pesky situation, and you already said it, DIY! All day errday….

Dreamy DIY HeadBoard

I am utterly obsessed with this simple yet brilliant idea. First of all it looks like so much fun to do, second it’s beyond unique with the different mix of patterns. So to get this awesome style, just use 18×18 or larger pieces of plywood…wrap each one using quilt batting because it has the cushion-y look to it. Et Voila! You have a beautiful headboard!!! If you are looking for some more character how about some Ankara wrapping, that would be such an awesome themed headboard. So don’t be shy just DIY! (I am the Queen of corniness.. and binge eating).

Well sometimes, you might want to just close your eyes and spend a dime or two. Uber your way all the way to the furniture store ( it’s 35% cheaper so you know I am in on that haha…) and buy yourself something nice, something you’ve probably seen in one of the many E! Reality Shows, I have mental screenshots of a particular show (KUWTK), its crazy… I just like what I like!

Beautiful Pattern HeadBoard

The mirror on top of the headboard is such a lovely touch but considering the headboard is rectangular in shape as well, I’d have probably picked a circular shape and had it at the very center.

The print on the headboard matches well with the print and the vibrant colors on the pillows. This gives the room a very youthful feel.

But of course you would be wondering where to get such amazing headboards. Well, wonder no more I found something for you guys and for me too !
