3 Amazing Wallpaper Uses

Beyond the wall…

It’s been quite a while, I’m sorry! Well needed rest I feel. Anyway, I’m back at it again with a new helpful and creative post to keep our designer minds popping and bobbing.

Wallpaper has always been my go to when talking about a quick interior change. The house walls are usually like skin, you change your skin and you look a whole lot different (this is the best analogy I could come up with after going missing for months.. nice.. haha). Moving right along, so here are 3 amazing uses for wallpaper that will give you house a new look and cost you less coin than you would think.

STAIRCASE BEAUTY

There always those over dramatic wallpaper designs I see in stores and I just stare at them like, who in the world would buy this? Well, I guess we should now!!! A little goes a long way. Add an accent wall without getting permanent and it being on the side of the staircase definetly got a nod from me because it looked a little less busy and does not restrict other patterns you may wish to have in your space.

The good news is that there is more than one way to place a wallpaper on your staircase. Have a look at this!

Tropical staircase

This looks absolutely gorgeous, and the best part is the placement is not at the top of the staircase so nobody will be ruining your beautiful style while the make their way up the stairs.

This particular picture did give me some tropical vibes because the blending of the pineapple images on the wallpaper and well placed vibrant plants, matched with those chairs ( I honestly don’t know what they are called) everything did come togethere perfectly. Goes to show that “one” thing could complete the look you might be going for and that “one” thing could be wallpaper.

WALL ART

Paintings can be very expensive, though totally worth it. I personally advocate for buying beautiful paintings mainly because I have amazing artists for friends, shout out to you Eileen Tamining, she draws people, birds, dogs to a pack of yogurt to absolute perfection, check her out. Anyway, sometimes when we are trying to get ready to save up that money for a beautiful drawing we could indulge in some allowed wallpaper cut into a beautiful frame DIY.

Framed wallpaper

You can thank me in likes and subscriptions for this one, I’m not needy 🙂 Anyway, so a framed wallpaper gives you room to have absolutely anything on your wall (in high resolution if you’d wish btw), it literally depends on what you would want for your space. So go ahead and get to DIY’ing.

TRAY ACCENTS

Sometimes , you would want to shake things abit. Add some character to your normal tray with some leftover wallpaper. Doesn’t cost too much time or money but the impact is definitely something your guests will notice. Be sure to direct them to veebydesign for more awesome interior decor tips and tricks ( As LoganPaul would say, always plug!!)

Tell me this isn’t stunning!.. I’ll wait!

So, that is all I have for you today, I am glad to be back and I’m glad my fellow designers are right back with me. Hope you enjoyed the post. Wishing you all nothing but good health, great success and warm hearts.

Fringe Benefits

As inspired by the awesome winniethefashionista

She is among the girls killing it right now with her bomb fashion sense that even fashion bomb daily recently gave her the thumbs up. I am of course a lover of fashion in case you are wondering though I have my off the mark days (approximately most days of the year). I also do follow trends like a kid after candy and besides me being her friend I do more than occasionally end up on her site for some glorious style tips.

So on my usual stalking errands on her lovely site I did come across many wonderful pictures of her in a to-die-for fringe dress designed by Vivo and let’s just start with one I want that dress till to date and two I got insanely inspired to do a post on it. But calm down…. I am not switching into fashion blogging because I would possibly generally only talk about flats plus a red lip and also because Interior Decor is kinda my thing and better the devil I know right?

I love pushing my creativity as far as I can when it comes to various ideas and the opportunity to be inspired always gets my fingers typing at 1000 words per second to get it out and share with anyone willing to read 🙂 So let’s start getting into the fringe benefits of interior decor.

There are so many ways to add a fringe style to your home decor without looking like you have a bunch of stuff hanging around all over your house. It could end up looking messy and messy only looks good on a Saturday morning hair bun. So I shall gladly state the mantra I keep spitting out every single post, simplicity is always the best option, a little bit of something could make a space look absolutely magical and who in their right minds doesn’t love a bit of magic (except the Dudleys… shameless Harry Potter reference)

Glamorous

There is a touch of glamour that comes with these cuties that has me obsessing over the shower curtain. We all know I love a gold detail and the gold details here made me hear all the bathroom angels sing.

It’s quite a unique style in the best of way and it blends so well it made me wonder how I don’t have this in my bathroom already because all shower curtains should look just like this if not better.

When I think of fringe, I envision Bohemian Elegance or Persian Perfection. Styles that are so unique and beautiful that if done right your house just might feel like another country. Of course fringe chairs used to be all the rage back in the day but I genuinely believe this can be brought back with a bit of a modern twist to it. For instance, there would be less print on the furniture just a solid color with the fringe to spice things up a bit, this is up for debate… I can hear some of you yell noooooooo while reading this haha don’t worry it brings back some old day memories for me too but take a look at this though..

Beautiful Fringed Accent Chair

There is a touch of Gatsby that comes with this particular fringed chair. The fringes don’t have to be thick, they can be thin, light and very elegant.

The accent chair is still very modern if you ask me, so there is no style lost here.

The lovely wall art played on my heart strings as well. It fit perfectly with the whole theme of the space magnificently bringing the look together.

If you are into the Victorian feel and look you can have a black fringed accent chair and who said the fringe only goes at the bottom? (loudly whispers NO ONE)  Black set on lighter surfaces always plays such a wonderful part of bringing some sense of character to a space. So don’t be shy and go ahead and try..( this is my cheesiest line yet lol )

And finally, the fringed chandelier!! I loved this so much. Especially for a bedroom. It has a luxurious look to it, well.. not compared to a diamond chandelier but yeah…. it’s definitely cheaper and nobody can DIY a diamond chandelier so I rest my case.

DREAMY HEADBOARDS

Planning to move out: BEDS

Getting a good, fancy looking, inexpensive (preferably free) and durable bed has not been an easy task, I don’t know why I thought it would be in the first place and it is definitely safe to say I thought about sleeping in one of my old sleeping bags and just hipster my way through life, but I went through online therapy (involves me googling stuff while chewing down some popcorn or amigos) and I came across some amazing stuff that I am more than excited to share. So let’s share a dream on these extremely dreamy headboards!

Dreamy Light Grey HeadBoard

I will be the first to say that I am currently dealing with the world’s ugliest headboard, don’t get me wrong I still sleep like a baby, just not the North West kind of baby sleep, you know? which any normal 24 year old adult would wish for. So being broke and fairly creative most of the time, I have ended up looking for some cheaper options to deal with this pesky situation, and you already said it, DIY! All day errday….

Dreamy DIY HeadBoard

I am utterly obsessed with this simple yet brilliant idea. First of all it looks like so much fun to do, second it’s beyond unique with the different mix of patterns. So to get this awesome style, just use 18×18 or larger pieces of plywood…wrap each one using quilt batting because it has the cushion-y look to it. Et Voila! You have a beautiful headboard!!! If you are looking for some more character how about some Ankara wrapping, that would be such an awesome themed headboard. So don’t be shy just DIY! (I am the Queen of corniness.. and binge eating).

Well sometimes, you might want to just close your eyes and spend a dime or two. Uber your way all the way to the furniture store ( it’s 35% cheaper so you know I am in on that haha…) and buy yourself something nice, something you’ve probably seen in one of the many E! Reality Shows, I have mental screenshots of a particular show (KUWTK), its crazy… I just like what I like!

Beautiful Pattern HeadBoard

The mirror on top of the headboard is such a lovely touch but considering the headboard is rectangular in shape as well, I’d have probably picked a circular shape and had it at the very center.

The print on the headboard matches well with the print and the vibrant colors on the pillows. This gives the room a very youthful feel.

But of course you would be wondering where to get such amazing headboards. Well, wonder no more I found something for you guys and for me too !

Remember that show?

The title felt fitting, the show being good and all still has nothing to do with this article, wait! Maybe a little though because the dad used to do a whole lot of DIY’s 🙂

Crafting your heart out makes room for your soul to grow

~Sara Lanon

I am a huge DIY fan. I mean, I would perform surgery on myself if only the end result wasn’t death ( you can tell I am very serious about this). Free has always been my lucky number so making things that cost upto nothing yet look expensive and fancy was an eventual inevitable hobby.

So let’s dive into this beautiful world of making, shall we?

diy
http://www.bobvila.com/point-the-way/46626-10-surprisingly-simple-woodworking-projects-for-beginners/slideshows?noredirect=true

Who remembers those soda crates we used to have back in the day? Well, well! We called them ugly, but look what they grew up to be? All you need is some nails, a hammer, wood vanish and four of these vintage babies and you are set for a DIY masterpiece. This gives a brilliant vintage yet modern look, add a centerpiece to it to give it more of your style. All your guests will want one but be sure to charge though (we like free things but we like making money too friends) Unless your friends read my blog too then we simply accept defeat!

As I have mentioned before in one of my previous posts, I have started having a strong liking for flowers. Flowers are cheap, or stolen from the neighbourhood gardens but the vases sometimes cost a bit too much for my non existent budget to handle (plus stealing vases is not as easy as it sounds). So those mason jars you get your garlic sauce sauce in, or whatever you are into, they can be so ideal in this colourful situation.

N/B: I get my mason jars from a butchery in Nairobi West, they make all kinds of sauces that I love and my brother creates some amazing dishes with these tasty devils! Shout out to that random butchery and my brother’s cooking!

All you will need is any sort of tape, some paint, a brush and the clear mason jars.Wrap whatever pattern you would prefer, channel your inner Leonardo Da Vinci and Mona Lisa the world out of those jars. (word play… witty!)

mason flowers

How pretty and cheap is that? You can thank me, it’s alright I do not grow weary of compliments.

Or you could just paint over them and call it a day, some of you lazy folk are lucky I have a blog to guide all of us ( I’m just kidding…subscribe!!!)

pink masons
http://m.lovethispic.com/image/196645/painted-mason-jars

If  the jars have writing such as the one depicted in this photo whose link is right below it, you can use sand paper over the writings for that vintage look, if no writings are on your mason jar, just use the sand paper at the very top where you screw the lid on.

Here are some veeinterior tips that will make you smile all the way to the kitchen (because all that extra money can be spent on food now! You were thinking it too yes? I know)

shower rod
http://www.buzzfeed.com/peggy/31-easy-diy-upgrades-that-will-make-your-home-look-more-expe?utm_term=3ngeuqy&sub=3191529_3306026

Tip 1: So you want a bigger window but you do not have the luxury of just bursting that space open, hulk style and designing a bigger one. How about you use a curved shower curtain rod to make the window look bigger.

The idea of having a bigger window is what we are aiming for, work that interior decor illusion (closest thing to magic right next to love)

Tip 2: So you have one or two shelfs that are floating around in your house, looking plain and just killing your whole home decor. How about some fancy shelf brackets to give them that “I totally spent a lot of money” look for a whole lot less. Just hammer these on and voila! I don’t want to mention your guests again but you already know wassup?!

And it’s a wrap for today’s article, hope your home gets fancified with these DIY tips, don’t be shy to let your creativity go wild.
